Todd MacFarlane's dark comic hero, Spawn, was a long-requested guest by fans given the similar levels of violence, blood, and gore the character's universe shares with those of MK. There was more than just service to long time Mortal Kombat fans, however, as NRS brought in famous figures from outside the MK universe engage in bloody battles.
NetherRealm got just about everyone and their mothers to reel back in their seats when they revealed plans for Shang Tsung, for example, not only because of the characters status as an iconic Mortal Kombat OG, but also because developers were able to get actor Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa to reprise his role as the evil sorcerer from the 1995 Mortal Kombat film. It should also live up to expectations, which NRS set a fairly high bar for themselves with by taking on such characters as The Joker and Terminator. It's aimed at a more general and rounded analysis of which newcomers garnered the most hype and gave players the most excitement while they took control of them to beat up on their friends with.Ī good DLC addition should reignite some passion for an already existing game and give players a reason to turn it back on. This isn't a question of character ability or strength in game, though you're free to factor that into your choices if you find it relevant.
