Evan Walker Timeline in The 5th Wave – Shmoop. Cassie Sullivan | The 5th Wave Wiki – Fandom. Ben Parish | The 5th Wave Wiki – Fandom. Evan Walker | The 5th Wave Wiki | Fandom. So get ready to blast off in a rocket fuelled Starfield performance preview. We also compare the improvements over the previous showing, enhancements within the engine, and much more. The biggest question after the show(s) was: why is it 30fps on Xbox Series X and Series S and not 60fps? In this IGN Performance preview, we dive into the details shared by the team, the revealed PC minimum and recommended specifications, and how the Creation Engine 2 works, comparing the previous games to gauge some of the potential reasons why the team might have chosen 30fps. With Starfield being the center of the Xbox 2023 Showcase last week, Bethesda gave us a deep dive into one of the biggest games this generation. However, both characters send Ben and his teammates on a mission to take out a group of alien enemies, which becomes one of the best action sequences in the movie. Meanwhile, Maria Bello is woefully underutilized as Schreiber's second-in-command - to the point that I wonder why she's in the film at all. Liev Schreiber plays a hard-ass military man who is clearly evil from the beginning. The corrupt human antagonists are even less developed. Even It Follows' Maika Monroe isn't able to bring anything interesting to her character "Ringer," other than too much eye makeup. Meanwhile, Cassie's former high school crush Ben Parish (Nick Robinson) just so happens to be the leader of Sam's squad, which is made up of a ragtag bunch of kids with nicknames like "Poundcake," "Dumbo" and "Teacup." Robinson in particular does a fine job in his secondary role, but Ben's squadmates are forgettable and seem ripped from the pages of other bottom-shelf YA fiction. It doesn't help that Evan is not only bland but lacking in sufficient backstory, especially when we find out he's harboring a secret. Of course, sexual tension ensues, and Cassie falls prey to a super dull romance subplot that takes up the bulk of her character's storyline. Alas, this is also when Cassie meets hunky mountain man Evan Walker (Alex Roe), who guides Cassie through the woods to find the military base where Sam is stationed.
Early on, Cassie gets separated from her family and friends, and is left to fend for herself, which gives her character some time to adjust and reflect on what's happened.
Luckily, Moretz makes a good, solid lead, and her character gets plenty to do throughout the film. As a result, we hardly get to know any of the characters before the devastation begins, and by then it's all just plot. This includes knocking out all the power (First Wave), mass earthquakes (Second Wave) and disease (Third Wave) - all of which are stiffly narrated by Cassie. Play Diving headlong into the invasion, the movie begins by blowing through the first three waves in about 20 minutes.
